Spring Spectacular Concert

SCC Community Orchestra presented an inspiring premier performance of a symphonic poem written by Dr. Brian Kehlenbach: “Beside the Golden Door.” The music portrays the heroic, enduring strength and the tender loving care of the people of the USA symbolized by the Statue of Liberty in the Harbor of New York and the sonnet “The New Colossus” of Emma Lazarus posted at the base of the statue.

Dr. Jungwon Jin presented a brilliant performance of the Piano Concerto by Robert Schumann. The concerto was written for his wife, Clara Shumann, who was recognized as a piano prodigy when she was 15 years of age, and continued on to be among the best pianists of Europe in the 19th century. Dr. Jin was accompanied by SCC Community Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Binh Vu. Together, they presented a passionate and energetic performance.
